today, on my day off, i had to go in to work early and lead a coffee tasting! i'm not going to lie, i had so much fun :)
i always get excited when starbucks rolls out something new.

i have been so busy that i forgot to post that i have another show tonight! this one is small, features four of my ttv prints, 12x12 prints, mounted on 24x24 sheet metal. what a nightmare it was to hang them!

time is flying so fast right now. next week my vacation starts, and i will be in new york!!!!!! i am so excited.

any tips on where i should go while in new york? so far we are going to the opera (3 times) the little mermaid, b&h photo, central park zoo, mood fabrics, and a bunch of restaurants (babbo (!!!), craft, cafe des artistes) but i want to take in as much of new york as i can in 5 days, so......

yay :D

this has been a good photo week for me..

1. i found out that i sold 2 3 photos at my show :) (the show was only open to the public for 3 hours, so i think this is pretty damn good.
2. i am having another show in april!! :)
3. one of my photos is going to be featured in a book called "Roadside Americana". (i will write more about this later probably)

this is exciting & it is good to finally be making a little bit of money doing this too.

also, i started doing some through the viewfinder shots (ttv) with a kodak duaflex. i really really love them.

i think this is what my april show theme will be. what do you think ?

also, OMG i will be 29 in a little over a week!

on saturday i had my first show at c street studios during arts alive. i guess it went well. a lot of starbucks customers came, which was nice, and some of us snuck out for a few celebratory cocktails.

however, getting ready for the show was not fun. i was told to buy mats for my frames online, which i did, but they didn't show up when they were scheduled to. so i had to run around town to find the correct sizes, and then go home and frame and mat everything (16 pictures). it was a lot of work, but they turned out awesome... if i do say so myself ;)

all of the comments i received were really good, but there was a photo of kisa, so i got to hear a lot of "what is that?!" and "omg that thing is so weird" ... insult the photos all you want, but not kisa!

i got a phone call today asking if i would like to have a photography show at a gallery in old town (!!!!!!!!) so of course even though time is really limited, i want to do this. right now i have been trying to come up with a theme, but not having much luck. so i am asking for opinions :D

life update: i just got back from working at a bridal expo in santa rosa. OMG. me and over 100 brides. not fun. i was a wine glass rep for my sister, selling (or trying to) high end toasting glasses. the show was interesting, good people watching, but having to stand in 4 in heels on a cement floor for over 5 hours was not fun. my body is still recovering.

work is insane. as usual.

i am going to new york in may! 3 operas, a musical and shopping! we are also going to MOOD to feed our (my mom, my stepdad and myself) project runway addiction. GO TEAM FIERCE! ;)

i haven't been around at all lately because i have been working my tail off so i could afford to buy my new camera, and it just showed up a few minutes ago!!!!!

this is the second picture i took - the first was project runway on tv :p - but it is kisa in bed (where else) at 3200 iso with the e-3.

i was driving to loleta, and on the way i always look out to see the eureka protein company building, because i love it so much :)

anyways, so i was driving by and i didn't see it. i thought perhaps i missed it, so i paid very close attention to it on the way home. it's gone. bulldozers were there. it's now a big pile of rubble. i am so depressed about this.

since i cannot take any time off in november/december, i decided to take a mini-vacation. i don't go back to work until friday! 6 whole days.. ahhhhh!!!!! i don't have any plans. just SLEEP. clean my house. sleep some more and do some serious catch up on stuff.

i haven't updated in so long, i don't even know what to write about.

i am sick.

work has been.. well, i am not even going to go there, but i did have over 16 hours of overtime last week...hence the lack of updating.

sarahfae's wedding is tomorrow. due to high concentration of asshats in humboldt county, tim is now using my kitchen since his commercial kitchen space didn't "Work out" (drama alert)
there is so much food in my house, and 'round the clock cooking.

i dyed my hair red. again. i wasn't sure about it until a kid came up to me and told me i looked like the little mermaid. i know i did a good job ;)

kisa and mister are fine. fat & happy.

nervous about photographing the wedding tomorrow. having a fever is not helping. i'm sure everything will be fine, but......

time to get dressed for work now. :|

earlier this week my first set of moo cards arrived! yay! i love them so much! it is really interesting to see which ones people choose to take. the one of mister is the most popular, followed closely by the nut tree ones and the key limes. i already want to get more printed!

i made a lame redesign of my website. meh. it'll get there.. someday.

work has been really busy... i know, i always say that, but it is true. training for the new store, opening every day. now i volunteered to help open the new store too, so trying to do that and sarahfae's wedding is going to be pretty crazy. but i am ready for the challenge! :)

instead of cleaning my house, i decided to take a selfportrait.. it's been a while..

my hair is still about 50 shades of red and orange, but i love it!

um.. well today we went to the humboldt county fair!! i have never been, and today was opening day, and............ WOW. it is about 15 times more hokey than i expected it to be. the corndogs were pretty good, and i had some stellar pumpkin cobbler. took a few pictures, which i don't know when i'll have time to upload.. i am really behind. work is kind of brutal right now, and then preparing for sarahfae's wedding.

we also went back to the eureka protein company (the place i posted about earlier - this, i guess, was the official name) and OMG. there was a smaller barn there, and the wind pushed the door open, so i peeked inside, and there was hay on the ground, water bowls and latex gloves. in the main building i saw a lot of bones and what i assume to be tallow.. D:

i love this place but i am really terrified of it at the same time. it is an interesting feeling. i took a few portraits of alison there.. the emotion i wanted to capture is perfect. sinister. if i didn't have to wake up at 4am, i'd be uploading them now..... :|

i wish i could work less and photo more, but.......

i have been really busy the past two weeks T_T

my new flash and lens arrived, and i have had minimal time to play around with them, as i am working 6 days a week right now. ugh.

but anyways, when my 11-22mm lens came, i really wanted to go here:

i had no idea what this building was, so i stared asking customers at starbucks about it. this place is really creepy, filled with birds, and has a haunting feel to it. turns out that it used to be a horse slaughter house. i don't know why, but i am really drawn to this morbid structure. i want to know the story behind it and translate that into a photograph.

yesterday i hung out with sarahfae for a little bit (not long enough) and she let me snap a few pics. i was told that my new lens is not for portrait work, but they are liars, 'cos i think it works very well!

does anyone use a lensbaby? i was thinking of getting one because i like specialty gadgets like that....

i was hoping that i was going to be able to take some time off work, but i just found out today that we are losing one of our shifts, so i may have to continue the 6 day work week thing for a while. not that i mind, i could use the money.

my new goal is to start/finish my website before sarahfae's wedding. i ordered some MOO cards, and they have my url on them, so there should be something for people to look at besides a narwhal. i have a little over a month to do that. ack!!!

!! i am still sick !!
it has been nearly two weeks now, and this allergy/sick thing is still hanging on. is my throat going to hurt forever? am i going to be cough up scary stuff for 2 more months? do i have to wake up and chow benadryl every morning? i hope not. please make it stop.

aside from the sick thing, i have been really busy. what's new.
every day last week, and ever day this week (Except tomorrow) i work at 5am.. which i really like because it gives me the rest of the day to do other non starbucks work stuff.

on sunday, tim, sarahfae and i wen tto the barn where she is getting married. i really needed to see the location before i could decide on a lens, and i am soooo glad i did.

i am also getting an external flash and some other goodies. so freakin' excited! !! NEW TOYS !! i think i am more excited than sarahfae is - and she is the one getting married :}

today after work we went to la petite masion, had some scones, and then went to the cheese factory. i have been there many times, so i kinda left tim on his own, and i went and explored the place across the street. (the powdered sugar factory) oh my god. this place is incredible. i was trespassing and wanted to take as much of this place in as i could. so no real pictures. just some that do not do this place justice. i need to set up a photo shoot there asap. a.s.a.p.

tonight i am being a good girl and spending the evening relaxing. i have not been sleeping well due to the sickness and how hot it's been (low to mid 70's). and the fact that i have to wake up every day at 4am..... rest tonight, party tomorrow. tomorrow is my friday!!

omg! i have been so incredibly busy the past two weeks. yesterday i worked from 8am - 11pm, half of that time at starbucks, and the other half.. as a waitress! ha!!!! i am glad that isn't my everyday job because i would go crazy.

something good happened this week. my parents sent me $1,000. there is a long story behind why, which i will spare you, but now i can buy a delicious lens for miss sarahfae's wedding unsure if i am going to go with the 50-200mm, 8mm fisheye or fork out some extra for something else. i really want that fisheye, but for a wedding? not sure.

not only have i been busy, i have been sick. allergies. sort of. i cleaned my entire house even my closet! and had an allergic reaction to something i put on the carpet. it's been 9 days and i am just now feeling almost normal.

it's so hot i think i am going to take a siesta :)
